The compiler of the collection is the editorial board of the Social Democratic newspaper Darbininkų balsas published in 1901–1906 in Eastern Prussia and published in Tilsit and Bittehnen.  The newspaper was edited by Vladas Sirutavičius (1901–1902) and Augustinas Janulaitis (starting from the fourth issue for 1902 to 1906).

The collection was received in 1950 from the library of the then Kaunas State University.

The compiler of the collection is ELTA (Eretas Lithuanian Telegram Agency) established in Kaunas on April 1, 192 on the basis of Lithuanian press offices that were organized during World War I in Kaunas.  Its first director was Juozas Eretas.  The agency had branches in Klaipėda and Vilnius.

The compiler of the collection is Mečislovas Davainis-Silvestraitis (1849–1919), cultural activist and folklore collector. He disseminated Lithuanian books, published Lithuanian-minded newspaper entitled Litwa, wrote for Lithuanian periodicals.

The compiler of the collection is the editorial board of the newspaper Lietuvos aidas. The documents of the editorial office encompass the Vilnius period from 1917 to early 1919. The collection also includes some documents related to Vilniaus žinios  and Lietuvos žinios.
