F6-67. Indulgence by Archbishop Fridrich of Gniezno


Vilnius, 1495 03 14
Archbishop Fridrich of Gniezno grants, under certain conditions, 100 days of the remission of temporal punishment in purgatory to the faithful who visit St. Nicolaus’ Church in Vilnius.
Red wax seal of Bishop Martynas (Martin) of Medininkai in wax bowl attached with a parchment strip. Diameter 32 mm. Two other attached seals are missing, except for the 3 cuts made for strings.
Latin; 1 f.; 22,8x51,8+11,2 cm; Text: 9x42,2 cm; 17 rows. The parchment is dirty, spotty, with holes gnawed along the folds. Ink faded, in places smeared.  Initial is decorated, taking up the whole text. First word of initulation is written in enlarged letters. There are two synchro postscripts. 
The label and the seal of the Library of Lithuanian Academy of Sciences are on the reverse of the parchment.
