The history of the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian academy of Sciences begins from the significant event: in 1912, the Society of the Eustachy and Emilia Wróblewski Library was founded. It was entrusted to take care and preserve the collections of the Library. The Committee of the Society was guided by the prominent lawyer, bibliophile and public figure Tadeusz Stanisław Wróblewski (1858–1925). On February 13, 1913, Tadeusz Stanisław Wróblewski named the library as Eustachy and Emilia Wróblewski Library, and donated it to this Society. In 1925, under the founder‘s will, the Library was handed over to Vilnius town and became the Wroblewski State Library.

In 1931, the Wroblewski State Library settled in the renovated Tyszkewisz Palace and it was the residence of our Library (Žygimantų St. 1) up to present days. On September 1, 1940, the Library was charged to the Institute of Lithuanian Studies. As of January 16, 1941, the Institute of Lithuanian Studies was reorganized into the Academy of Sciences and the Library became the Central Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Lithuanian SSR.

The archival documents, books, maps, old photographs and museum-pieces compiled in the collections of the Wroblewski State Library before September, 1940 are displayed in the exhibition. The organizers of the exhibition perceived the content matter of the collections of the Wroblewski State Library in such a way because the collections distinguish in great diversity. The historical artifacts of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the history of Vilnius region such as the portraits of personalities, various landscapes and written documents are prevailing in the collections.
